It’s starting to happen isn’t it? With the changing of the clocks, the stretch in the evenings and the green shoots appearing on trees, musicians are starting to peak their heads out of their rehearsal spaces, blinking in the light, noses twitching, nervous but excited to be getting back on stage after the long, year long covid winter.
Op der Schmelz in Dudelange are wasting no time. With a number of musical concerts scheduled already and a number of other exhibitions and literary events on their schedule the cultural centre is quickly getting back to business.
This Friday sees a first show for a really interesting project that brings together a number of prominent but quite different figures from the Luxembourg music scene.
Pop singer songwriter Edsun has steadily been making a name for himself over the last couple of years with his 2019 hit Essential in particular getting a lot of airplay. Despite the pandemic, the 30 year old has kept busy, releasing three singles in 2020 and, we see now, working with some of Luxembourg’s premier musicians on a new project.
Herr Bender are Jeff Herr (drums) and Maxime Bender (Saxophone) two of the leading lights in the Grand Duchy’s jazz and improvisation scenes.
Coupled with Edsun’s pop sensibilities and joined by Vitaliy Zolotov on guitar and Reza Askari on bass, they have created a unique modern sound that gives you just enough pop to grab your attention but then keeps you intrigued with some really interesting instrumentation and arrangements.
Op der Schmelz are doing their best to keep things comfy, safe and covid compliant. With this in mind each visitor will be assigned a seat and the use of a mask will be mandatory. The event will end no later than 22h00 which will give you enough time to comply with the curfew of 23h00.
In order to ensure social distancing, there will only be a very limited number of seats available. They therefore recommend that you buy your seat in advance.
