The exhibition The Grey Man at The Casino Contemporary Art Gallery has been extended until the sixth of June. If you haven’t been yet…now is the time to take in this excellent evocative exhibition.
The Gray Man exhibition questions non-archetypal representations of the Devil in contemporary art. Far from disappearing, his face has simply mutated, demonstrating once again the fascinating adaptability that has enabled him to traverse the history of art - and of men - without weakening.
No doubt you have already passed him, at a bend in a street, ate next to him, laughed at his jokes, cried on his shoulder, admired his acquaintances. Perhaps you haven't even noticed him, although he is present every day, indifferent to everyday life, simple anonymous. Yet he never revealed his true nature to you, you never thought that he was only a mask, that this neighbor, this friend, this office colleague, anyone could be the Devil in nobody. But don't we continually seek it in others to avoid finding it in ourselves?
This stimulating alternative evokes, r the use of anonymity as strategic weapons; reveals the malefic internalization in man, and his unbearable banality; questions the border between the visible and the invisible, between disguise and mass; aspires to rekindle a dark flamboyance. The diagonal of creation therefore crosses philosophical, economic, political, aesthetic, or moral poles.
In addition to the L’homme gris exhibition at the Casino Luxembourg - Contemporary Art Forum, an audio cassette and a publication have been produced. The exhibition, extended until June 6, 2021, presents the works of 20 artists around non-archetypal representations of the devil in contemporary art.
