The 93rd Academy Awards took place last night across several locations with a rotating audience to cover corona restrictions and fears but it still managed to have all the glitz and glamour associated with Hollywood’s annual big night out, (well almost).
Over the years the Oscars have faced criticism for a lack of diversity but this year’s nominees contained some notable firsts. It was the first time an all-Black producing team was nominated for best picture, the first time two actors of Asian descent received noms for best actor and the first year that two women were nominated for best director. When the winners were revealed, it reflected this spirit of inclusion.
Sadly the two Luxembourgish co-productions, Wolfwalkers & Collective missed out this year.
