Lidia Rahal joined Tom on the Breakfast Show this morning to talk about the issue of bullying in schools in Luxembourg. She has created a petition calling for improved national frameworks for tackling the issue of bullying in Luxembourg's schools.
After the experience of her daughter being targeted by bullies, Lidia realised that there wasn't an effective solution to dealing with bullying in schools in Luxembourg. Bullies may be temporarily expelled from schools or parents might be moved to take their child to a new school but the issue of bullying in schools remains.
Bullying can take many forms including physical abuse, psychological harassment and social media bullying. Unfortunately children can be severely affected by bullying and in the worst cases can be driven to depression and even suicide.
Lidia's petition calls for the government to tackle this issue with a national framework, she cites the example of Finland's national programme of bullying education as a good example of how to implement such a framework.
