In the past years, researchers at the Luxembourg university have been involved in a European project called Working yet poor. Whereas Luxembourg has the highest wages in the European Union. Yet, the salaries are not sufficient to live decently, not in every case. The rate of people who are considered poor despite working in Luxembourg is as high as 13,5 %, whereas the EU average is only at 9 %.
On Local Matters this week, we focus on working poor, a huge problem in Luxembourg. We will see – well hear – how people cope with a small wage in an expensive country and we will hear who is most affected. Our guest today is Anne-Catherine Guio. Anne-Catherine Guio is a researcher at the Luxembourg University, an economist focused on poverty and social exclusion.
