Today's guest on the Breakfast Show was Jussi Jaatinen from the Ilula Orphan Programme. Jussi is an educator who recently returned from a 6 month long stay in Tanzania where he was volunteering for the Ilula Orphan Programme.
The Ilula Orphan Programme is a non-governmental organisation based in Ilula, Tanzania with sister organisations in countries around the world including IOP Luxembourg. The Organisation works to support the most vulnerable children in Tanzania, providing home to dozens of orphaned girls in their centre in Ilula as well as running a sponsorship programme for thousands of children in the surrounding areas helping to put them through education.
Jussi went to Tanzania with support from the SNJ and IOP Luxembourg. Before leaving he raised funds to help set up a football team for the community, the Ilula Tigers.
In Tanzania, Jussi worked with the staff at IOP to establish the senior team and coached the youth team. The Tigers saw success in their first season, making it to the finals of their regional cup.
IOP and the Ilula tigers are always searching for new supporters and sponsors. Sponsoring a child through education costs 240 euros and makes a huge difference to somebody's life.
