Between the 20th-29th of May Monodrama Festival celebrates it's 12th edition presenting a programme of solo-performance theatre and dance performances at Bananefabrik in Bonnevoie.
Festival director Steve Karier joined Tom in the studio to introduce the festival to our listeners and discuss everything that the programme has to offer this year.
As steve points out, the festival highlights a special type of performance focusing on the single performer on stage in front of the audience. This dynamic creates a special connection between audience and performer and requires a highly skilled performer to carry off successfully.
Since it's first edition in 2010, Monodrama has brought solo-performers from across the world to Luxembourg to perform in the multi-lingual festival. This year's edition will feature artists from Germany, Belgium, Bénin, Burkina Faso, Great-Britain, Greece, Luxembourg, Niger, Czech republic and Switzerland.
Highlights in English include Luxembourgish production Hypervolk by Filip Markiewicz performed by Lisa Schützenberger, Despina Sarafeidou performing Kassandra - A Stand-up Tragedy in Broken English by Sergio Blanco and Pip Utton's Playing Maggie.
Apart from the performances each day will feature a work in progress showing after which the audience will be encouraged to ask questions and critique the new works.
Each day will also feature catering by Chiche.
