Nicholas Duprey from Serve the City joined Tom on the Breakfast Show today to talk about World Clean Up Day which is taking place this Saturday 17th of September
In order to underline the importance of World Clean Up Day, which sees milions of people volunteer to spend time cleaning up trash from the streets all over the world, Serve they City have organized a 'World Clean Up Week' here in luxembourg, with cleanups and awareness events happening throughout this week.
This year they have put together a campaign that focuses on spreading awareness about the dangers and negative effects of improper cigarette butt disposal.
"Cigarette butts, not to mention the cost to the community of these incivilities, are a tragedy for the environment. Thanks to our partner Orange Luxembourg, we will be able to distribute pocket ashtrays this year to deal with the problem at source. If we do nothing, there will be more cigarette butts in the ocean than fish by 2030." Underlines Sonia Casteran, Secretary of Serve The City Luxembourg.
World Clean Up Week will culminated on a big group cleanup event in Holerich on Saturday September 17th. Members of the public are invited to register to take part at www.servethecity.lu
