On Local Matters this week we talk about elderly people and the risk of falling into loneliness. Once retirement age kicks in, the mandatory structure of a working day is not given anymore. Particularly people who don’t have a partner or whose families live far away, are at risk of loneliness. Our guests today are Laura Zuccoli and Astrid Lauterbach. Laura Zuccoli was the president of the migrants’ association Asti and is retired since January of this year. Astrid Lauterbach has retired ten years, she lives alone. Both volunteer for the Gero Kompetenzzentrum fir den Alter as Pensiounscoaches (retirement trainers) to help people getting adjusted in this new phase of life.
The services of the pensiounscoaches are free of charge and you can find more information and get in touch via the centre Gero on their website gero.lu.
