The British and Irish Film Festival of Luxembourg kicks off its 14th anniversary this weekend. Between the 19th and 24th the festival will host 11 screenings at Cine Utopia in Limpertsberg. Festival programmer Geoff Thompson joined Tom on the Breakfast Show this morning to talk about what the festival has in store.
It is worth noting that this year the festival will host two editions with a second autumn edition taking place in September at the Cinematheque. The spring edition will host screenings of a mixture of Irish and British films that have been selected by Geoff through their inclusion in the Gallway Fleadh and the Edinburgh International Film Festival, all of which will be being screened for the first time in Luxembourg.
This year, films will compete for a critic's prize as well as an audience award, with audience members invited to vote for their favorite films with the added bonus of a prize draw for from all votes submitted for 2 lucky winners.
