Yasemin Elçi joined Simon on the Breakfast Show this morning to discuss a photography exhibition she has curated.
The exhibition is named after the book ‘A Room of One’s Own’ by Virginia Woolf, which talks about the disadvantages of being a woman in the male-dominated art world and which proposes ways to bring out women’s creativity through stories that oscillate between reality and fiction.
Similarly, Yasemin’s exhibition brings together three artists - Cansu Yıldıran, Ofir Berman and Imane Djamil - who create documentary work that resembles fiction. Each artist seeks traces of their identity in the collective memory of their hometowns, traditions, and tales of the past.
The exhibition runs from May 10th - June 3rd 2023 at Neumünster Abbey.
