Luxembourg is generally considered comfortable and safe, but somehow that doesn’t seem to be enough to stop Luxembourgers from being less satisfied with their lives now than in 2018. Especially younger people—teens and people under the age of 30 in general—are seeing their levels of satisfaction with life decrease.
While “satisfaction with life” is a subjective consideration, comparisons are still possible, and are telling data experts that something just isn’t the same anymore. A pandemic, threat of nuclear war, economic crisis and big question marks looming over the future of the planet, could be a good reason, but is there a way to look up and be more hopeful?
In this episode of Whine and Shine, our journalist Tracy Heindrichs has talked to Statec’s microdata expert Laure Grad, and the psychosocial centre Cepas’ clinical psychologists Esther Giebels and Cécilia Gruber to discuss what they’ve been witnessing among their young patients, what measures exist to help young people see the light at the end of the tunnel, and what parents and friends can do to help youths feel more satisfied with their life.
