Climate activists have raised quite some attention lately by trying to disrupt the everyday life of society. In Germany, the collective called “Letzte Generation” (Last Generation) attaches their bodyparts to the streets with high-performance glue to disrupt traffic. In France, collectives occupy land in order to save it from destruction.
In Luxembourg meanwhile, protest is less loud. The Youth-for-climate movement has dispersed. Only a handful of youngsters would still continue the combat - if they had support. Most of their allies however have lost interest or faith, or they have moved on to study outside of Luxembourg. The climate collectives in Luxembourg have a hard time to find enough committed militants to stage a large occupation or other more disruptive actions. The collective Rise for Climate Luxembourg as well has encountered this difficulty.
In our interview on Local Matters, Sofia and Brice, two members of the collective, tell us what they would like to do to achieve their goals, and why mobilizing people is so difficult in Luxembourg.
