ARA City Radio is proud to collaborate with WeSTEM, a non-profit championing women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This 12-week interview series spotlights remarkable women shaping Luxembourg's STEM landscape.
Our first guest, Tecla Trifiló, is a space engineer working in Luxembourg. Originally inspired by the movie Interstellar, Tecla’s curiosity led her to study aerospace engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where women comprised just 10-15% of her class. Despite this, Tecla persevered, finding role models like astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who inspired her journey.
While Tecla is the only female space engineer in her office, she feels change is underway. She’s passionate about advancing gender equality, having founded a university organization to inspire young girls to pursue STEM careers.
Reflecting on her career, Tecla acknowledges overcoming imposter syndrome and biases. Support from her family, colleagues, and the Wisdom organization in Luxembourg has been pivotal in helping her thrive.
Stay tuned for more stories from inspiring women in STEM every Tuesday at 9:40 AM on ARA City Radio.
