Researchers at the University of Hamburg discovered that watching videos of people sneezing or coughing can boost the immune system. Participants exposed to such videos showed increased antibodies in their saliva, despite no direct exposure to pathogens. Brain scans revealed heightened activity in areas linked to emotions and body awareness, suggesting a connection between the brain and immune response.
The study highlights the link between brain activity and physical health, reinforcing how psychological and sensory experiences can influence immune function. However, experts caution that watching illness-related videos isn’t a substitute for proven health practices like exercise, nutrition, and fresh air. More research is planned to explore how behavior and brain activity affect immune responses.
