In our interview on Local Matters, Nadia Kendall of the association Be Human explains hot the nonprofit promotes inclusion and tackles hidden disabilities with new initiatives.
Be Human focuses on gender equality, leadership, and disability inclusion. One key initiative supports individuals under 35 with hidden disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, Crohn’s disease, and PTSD. Their research revealed many people feel isolated and lack awareness of their rights, prompting Be Human to take action.
A major project, led by Be Human’s sister organisation the Real Impact Hub, involves Luxembourg Airport, where staff are being trained to assist travelers with hidden disabilities. The Sunflower Lanyard Program will discreetly signal when someone may need extra support.
Be Human also runs the PowHer Leadership Program, empowering young women with workshops and mentorship. As Kendall emphasized, "Rights are our power."
With plans to expand disability training across sectors, Be Human invites interested organizations to join their mission.
