Festrogen, Luxembourg’s women-centered comedy festival, is back this April with another edition packed with wit, workshops, and a growing sense of community. Organisers and comedians Jess Bauldry and Marta Correia joined the Breakfast Show to discuss the upcoming festival, which runs from April 24–27, and the powerful role it plays in carving space for women and non-binary voices in comedy.
Both comedians shared personal journeys that led them to the stage. Jess traded journalism’s objectivity for stand-up’s raw honesty, and Marta dove into comedy during a life-changing divorce. “You give yourself permission to talk about your life,” Marta reflected. “Once you can laugh at your flaws, nothing can bring you down.”
Workshops remain central to Festrogen’s mission. This year’s program includes sessions on sketch comedy, comic illustration, comedy survival, and crowd work. Instructors hail from across Europe, bringing experience and diversity to Luxembourg’s growing scene. “We're trying to create a safe, accessible space where people can find their voice and their funny,” said Jess.
While many women begin their comedy journey through Festrogen’s workshops, organisers hope to see more take the stage. “It’s daunting, but you survive. And when you bomb, there’s always someone there to say, ‘You did great,’” Jess said.
The festival also features performances, from a sketch comedy show titled Massive Mouthy Broads, to a gala headlined by Festrogen founders and international acts. The events are open to all, though the ethos remains clearly feminist.
Festrogen continues to be more than a comedy festival—it’s a space for empowerment, expression, and solidarity through laughter. For more information, visit festrogenfestival.com
