What’s Right: Clearer Ticket Prices, Finally!

If you’ve ever bought a concert ticket and felt blindsided by mystery fees at checkout — you're not alone. But this week brings some long-overdue good news: the era of hidden “junk fees” is finally starting to end.

Thanks to a new rule from the Federal Trade Commission, companies like Ticketmaster must now show the full price of tickets upfront — no more bait-and-switch at checkout. Starting Monday, Ticketmaster began rolling out these changes, allowing fans to see the real cost as soon as they start shopping.

The policy also applies to hotels, vacation rentals, and other services often loaded with surprise fees. It’s a major win for consumers who’ve spent years frustrated by unclear pricing.

Even better? Ticketmaster will now show fans where they are in the digital queue and provide live updates if wait times exceed 30 minutes — a helpful response after the infamous Taylor Swift ticket debacle in 2022.

Other platforms like SeatGeek are following suit, making “all-in pricing” the default. As their CEO put it: “Fans deserve pricing that’s clear from the start.”

At last, a little fairness is being restored to the live event experience — and that’s what’s right with the world.
