The 14th edition of Cineast will take place in Luxembourg between the 7th and 24th of October. The Central and Eastern European Film Festival will feature over 100 screenings including feature-length and short films as well as a wealth of accompanying events including concerts, art exhibitions and discussions.
After a holding a mostly online festival in their 13th year due to the coronavirus pandemic Cineast organisers are thrilled to be able to offer such an expansive programme of in-person events, being held in venues across the country.
Festival organiser Hynek Dedicius stopped by the Ara City studios this week and had a chat with Tom about what attendees can expect from the festival this year and what not to miss. Highlights include a feature film competition with seven films competing for the Grand prize presided over by an international critics jury, the ‘Dreams of Escape’ art exhibition being held at Abbey Neimenster and the opening party happening at Melusina on the 8th of October featuring celebrated slovenian singer Vasko Atanasoski and his new band The Uncles from The Dark.
This year the festival places a special focus on the cinema of Slovenia with 10 Slovenian films featuring in the programme.
Single tickets can be bought for single screenings or multi-screening packages at www.cineast.lu. Attendees should be reminded that all screenings are Covidcheck events and will require proof of vaccination or rapid testing before entrance.
