New Kid on the Block: Neighbour Magazine
Kasia, the founder of Neighbour Magazine stopped past the studio to talk to Lisa.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Kasia has called Luxembourg home for 12 years. Passionate about nature since childhood and now pursuing a degree in ecology, she believes that solving the global environmental crisis and transitioning to a more sustainable future involves tackling issues from many different perspectives, including creating awareness around local initiatives and solutions.
Living in this region, we're lucky to have the opportunity to buy milk straight from a local dairy farm, free-range eggs from down the street, local, seasonal fruits and vegetables grown organically, even soap produced a few kilometers away. We can also learn skills like foraging, cooking seasonally, or baking sourdough bread. But first, all of these options need to be discovered.
Several years ago, Kasia came up with the idea of a magazine to showcase these sorts of socially and environmentally beneficial projects and businesses through beautiful and in-depth stories.
““Though I’ve lived here for many years, I still am often surprised to learn about a new business or initiative that I’d never heard of before. There are so many wonderful projects that exist in every commune but a lot of the time they are quite ‘hidden’ to foreigners, or even to anyone not living in the same street, due to language barriers, little marketing, or because the only indication is a hand-painted sign in front of a house. ”
