Canadian indie outfit Arcade Fire dropped a brand new 45 minute song yesterday. Fans will only be able to hear it through the Headspace App though. (Or here until the link below stops working.)
The app, which offers meditation and mindfulness skills “on everything from managing stress and everyday anxiety to sleep, focus and mind-body health” has collaborated with a number of artists over the years and this latest track, described by the band as “meditative vibes to help you focus and feel inspired” is part of a playlist curated by John Legend.
The track, “Memories of the Age of Anxiety”, is Arcade Fire’s first piece of new material since 2017’s Everything Now but it seems as though we won’t have to wait nearly as long for the Canadian band’s next album as lockdown has been a very productive time for them and frontman Win Butler in particular. “We had been writing for a year and were doing our first session towards the record when Covid came down,” he said, adding: “I’ve just been writing, like I can’t remember a time where I’ve written more.”
