With so much great new music coming out of the Luxembourg music scene these days it sometimes feels as though if you blink you’ll miss something and so it proved last week as Daniel Balthasar, The Fred Barreto Group and Francis Of Delirium brought out new videos.
The first is for Daniel Balthasar’s new single Somebody’s Somebody. Directed and produced by Lefteris Parasyris with choreography and performance by Stephanie Handjiiska and Ralitsa Chepisheva, this upbeat and uplifting track is brilliantly enhanced by the the video which sees two women meet somewhat mysteriously under an overpass before their initially tentative dance moves burst in to life.
Next up is the Fred Barreto Group, who as we reported a few weeks ago have a new album coming out. The lead single is called Living and Loving and the video sees a skater sticking a cassette of the song in to his walkman before heading off on a longboard tour of Luxembourg City interspersed with shots of the band playing in an empty theatre. As the skaters tour ends, he winds up sitting in the theatre air drumming along to the end of the tune which, we have to admit, was what we were doing too!
Less is more with the video for Francis of Delirium’s I Think I’m Losing. The title flickers in black on a white background and, well, that’s it. But there’s something about seeing the word’s “I Think I’m Losing” play in a loop as Jana’s emotive vocals ring in your ears that cuts to the core. On the other hand, perhaps we’re reading too much in to it and they just wanted something quick to get it up on YouTube and the introspection it caused in us says more about how we are than it’s supposed to, either way, the song’s great so check it out!
