Today's guest on The Breakfast Show was Caroline from Ouni. Ouni is Luxembourg's first zero-waste grocery store.
With two locations in Gare and Dudelange, Ouni stock fresh organic produce in bulk which can all be bought according to weightby customers who bring their own containers to the store. If needed, containers can also be purchased in-store. In this way, the store and it's customers eliminate the waste caused by packaging and considerably reduce the carbon footprint of the customer's weekly grocery shop. Ouni is a collective, meaning that the store is owned and operated by its members. They also have a cafe space in each of their stores and hold regular workshops and activities.
In their conversation, Tom and Caroline discussed the reasons why zero-waste shopping is important, what you can do to begin zero-waste shopping and how to suppport and become more involved with Ouni if you are interested in the work that they do.
