Catherine Krettels form the Cinematheque in Luxembourg City was our guest on the Breakfast Show today, discussing the monthly programme for March at the Cinematheque and the luxembourg Film Festival which opens tomorrow night (03.03.2022)
Highlights this month include a retrospective on the films of celebrated French New Wave director Jacques Demy. The Cinematheque will be screening everything from his most famous films such as 'Les Demoiselles de Rochefort' (1967) as well as some of his lesser known features such as 'The Pied Piper' (1972)
This month also sees a thematic run of films focusing on Dance in Cinema. Highlights include 'Black Swan' (2010) 'House of Flying Daggers' (2004) and Lukas Dhont's 'Girl' (2018).
The 12th edition of the Luxembourg Film Festival is running from the 3rd until the 13th of March in venues around Luxembourg City including the Cinematheque. Since attracting over 18,000 visitors in 2018, the festival is now recognised as an important emerging film festival in Europe. After having to run the festival at reduced capacity last year, screenings will now be held in close to normal conditions, with Covidcheck conditions in place of course.
