Esther Leick is Communications and Fundraising Manager for Médecins Sans Frontières Luxembourg. Today she joined us on the Breakfast Show to discuss the work MSF is carrying out in Ukraine and how people can support their efforts helping those affected by the war in Ukraine.
MSF is an international humanitarian NGO the provides healthcare to people that are suffering all over the world. They currently operate in more than 90 countries.
MSF has operated in Ukraine since 1999 carrying out efforts to fight HIV and Tuberculosis in the country. Since the war broke out there, MSF has had to abandon this work and focus on supporting the people of Ukraine in the face of the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in the country.
Currently MSF staff are focusing their efforts on cooperating with the ministry of health and hospitals in the country to get urgently required medical supplies and staff to help those in need. They also have staff positioned on the borders with Poland and Hungary receiving refugees, giving care and providing mental health consultations.
MSF rely on donations from private donors to fund their efforts. In order to find out more about their work and how you can help head to www.msf.org/
