Patricia Abdelnour from Mir wëllen iech ons Heemecht weisen ASBL was our guest on the show this morning. She joined Tom to talk about an upcoming performance that the organization has produced with a group of Afghani women asylum seekers that will be taking place this weekend at the Marionettes Sauvages festival in Lasauvage.
Mir wëllen iech ons Heemecht weisen ASBL is an organisation that creates opportunities for social and cultural exchange between asylum seekers and residents of Luxembourg. As part of the Esch 2022 cultural programming, their next project will be performed this weekend in the form of a puppet show that has been created in collaboration with a group of female asylum seekers from Afghanistan. The performance entitled Shamama tells the story of a mother that has no other choice but to take her three little kids and leave their loving sweet home, enduring hardships during their long journey through different countries, forests and mountains to an unknown new place in the hope of a bright future.
The performance is taking place this saturday as part of the Marionettes Sauvages puppet festival in Lasauvage. More information and tickets can be found at: www.marionnettes-sauvages.lu/
