Esther Leick, Head of Communication and Fundraising at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Luxembourg, calls for an urgent end to the indiscriminate bombardment of Gaza, where thousands of civilians are trapped with limited access to essential and humanitarian supplies (water, food, shelter, medicines, electricity, fuel, basic security). Leick describes the horrific and catastrophic situation faced by MSF staff (over 300 people) in the Gaza Strip.
Access to humanitarian aid is also a challenge in other parts of the world such as Sudan where, after six months of brutal war, the warring parties are failing to protect civilians or facilitate essential humanitarian access, and international organisations are neglecting and failing to provide an adequate response. The crisis in Sudan epitomises a catastrophic failure of humanity that continues to endanger lives, displace millions from their homes and cause deaths even in areas far from the frontlines.
To help tackle the many humanitarian crises, whether man-made or natural (like the recent deadly earthquakes in Afghanistan), MSF is calling on the generosity of Luxembourgers to support its Emergency Fund by making a donation at msf.lu.
