Pierre Bohnert is 44 years old, 1,5 years ago, he was diagnosed with autism, the Asperger's syndrome to be precise. On Local Matters, Pierre tells us how this diagnosis has changed his work life and how he coped before the diagnosis. Today, Pierre works in the administration of the Luxembourg Autism Foundation. His work environment there is adapted to the specific needs of workers with autism. For instance, Pierre works only four days a week to have more time to balance the working days that demand a lot of him. He has a psychotherapist working with him to discuss topics like improving the personal work-life-balance.
This Sunday, 2 April, we celebrate World Autism Day. If you want to learn more more about autism, go to Place d’Armes in Luxembourg city on Sunday. Luxembourg’s autism associations will present themselves, and there will be music and other activities.
