The UK is finishing with coal power after 142 years of exploiting mines and burning coal. The country's last coal power station finished operations yesterday after running since 1967.

The new wind farm will be incorporated into the Tamega hydropower complex, one of the largest hydroelectric projects completed in Europe in the last 25 years, and will support the annual consumption of 128.000 homes.

According to a report by energy think tank Ember, for the first time, 30% of our energy comes from other sources than fossil fuels. Europe is well ahead of global average with 44% of our electricity coming from renewables.
