As The Card's Fall: Refugee or European with Patricia Abdelnour

Patricia Abdelnour is a Venezuelan citizen who arrived in Luxembourg two years ago…in this interview she describes her reason’s for leaving her country and settling here.

Venezuela is a wealthy country that has been in acute crisis for years, but the causes and reasons are complex ; power struggles, economic mismanagement and corruption. There is increasing conflict between the government and the opposition and the consequences has meant a lack of food, medicine, petrol, drinking water, electricity, medical care. Violence and unemployment has reached record levels, and it is reported that four million Venezuelans have fled their country in recent years and taken refuge in other countries. Venezuelans made up the second biggest group of refugees in Luxembourg for the past few years.

Patricia’s story is different from others, yet similar in so many ways. A woman who has made her mark in Luxembourg in a very short time, she describes how music helped her reconnect with herself, and connect with a community in Luxembourg. Patricia is giving back, the best way she knows how…
