Local choreographer Elisabeth Schilling has been commissioned by Gauthier Dance to create a solo for his most recent project The Dying Swans. Elisabeth’s piece is OLORIS ORAM.
More about The Dying Swans Project
The initial spark for Eric Gauthier’s Dying Swan’s Project was ignited when Gauthier Dance's extensive tour program in February and March fell victim to the extended lockdown. Gauthier saw the increasing discouragement in the eyes of his dancers and he realized that he had to do something about it. His “dying swans” needed a new artistic challenge and so The Dying Swans Project was born! Small at first, but it was to get better. A few days later, Gauthier, himself a member of the “be a mover” community, was invited to a talk with Jörg Howe, Head of Global Communication at Daimler AG. When he shared his dream, Howe spontaneously offered him support.
The Daimler initiative “be a mover” is part of the Group's global corporate citizenship commitment. With this strong tailwind, Gauthier could think bigger. Not only the company, but as many creative artists as possible should benefit, in total 64 artists from the fields of dance, choreography, music and film. Gauthier only needed a week to win them over to his project: The Dying Swans Project electrified international choreographers as well as representatives of the Stuttgart independent scene.
The finished project will consist of 16 solos for each company member of Gauthier Dance, which will be available on the social media channels of Theaterhaus Stuttgart and Gauthier Dance.
Eric Gauthier's goal was not only to give the “dying swans” from Gauthier Dance a new perspective in lockdown - but also a total of 64 artists from the fields of dance, choreography, music and film.
Eight choreographers each create a dance solo for the 16 members of the Theaterhaus Company. In addition, 16 original pieces of music are commissioned for the pieces as well as the filmic realization.
