While we are about to celebrate the International Women’s Day on Wednesday, the first ever women-led revolution is taking place in Iran. Worldwide, people have shown solidarity and raised their voices in support of the Iranian people. Much of the news from Iran however, still don’t travel far enough. Human rights breaches stay unnoticed and the Iranian regime still finds too much support worldwide. This is why activist Shabnam Sabzehi wants to speak up. In our interview, Shabnam amplifies the voices of the courageous women who risk their lives demonstrating for democracy and freedom. We talk about the protests, the human rights breaches that happen in Iran now and that have happened for decades, and about Shabnam's personal motivation to join this fight.
Shabnam is our first guest on the brand new feature Voices Matter. Every Monday, we invite people to speak about their personal stories and struggles, about what makes them get up every morning, and what keeps them awake at night.
Our new feature Voices Matter inspires, contributes to a mutual understanding, and amplifies the voices of those who want to be heard - no matter what the issue is.
Tune in every Monday at 9.40 am for our new feature Voices Matter. If you have a story that needs to be heard, get in touch at listeners@ara.lu.
