It has finally happened. Even after all these years, Wham! made it to the top of a national chart with their Christmas carol about open-heart surgery. This time around it was the Austrian chart that holds the honours although the official German chart wasn’t far behind.
Triple Double (Top of the EU Pops 09-12-24)
Christmas Craze is taking over European music charts. Not only did Mariah Carey move to the top of the Austrian chart, Denmark has its own version of a seasonal chestnut with Tinka. Top of the EU Pops brings all of that this week on Ara City Radio.
Mariahpocalypse 2024 (Top of the EU Pops 02-12-24)
And do it begins. This December was not two days old when Germany already did the deed and put Mariah Carey atop its music chart with that tune from Love Actually. All I want for Christmas is a quick and merciful end to Mariahpocalypse 2024.
A Bruno Mars Week (Top of the EU Pops 18-11-24)
Somehow, Bruno Mars made it to the top of four different European charts this week. And with two different colabs at that. Die With A Smile, with Lady Gaga refuses to go away and is atop the Belgian and Bulgarian chart. More importantly, his ATP, with Rosé took the top spot in Latvia and Lithuania, too.
In With The New (Top of the EU Pops 11-11-24)
This week’s Top of the EU Pops was full of promise, hope and possibilities. Or, it was just like the US elections, depending on your point of view. At any rate, there are loads of new tracks to be had, and some old re-appearances, too.
Lady Gaga Double Bill and Other Gems (Top of the EU Pops 04-11-24)
The short break proved just long enough for some proper changes at the Top of the EU Pops. Lady Gaga has two tracks in this week, Nikos Oikonomopulos is back with a new track in Cyprus and Tina Marinšek has a new crowd favourite in Slovenia.
Short And Sweet (Top of the EU Pops 21-10-24)
This week’s Top of the EU Pops is short and sweet. There was precious little movement from last week, with only five new tracks across twenty-seven European music charts.
Something New in Romania (Top of the EU Pops 14-10-24)
Perhaps the most surprising part of this week’s Top of the EU Pops is the fact that we finally have a new Romanian number one. Sevdaliza have finally forced a change at the top of that country’s music charts.
Triple Doubles (Top of the EU Pops 07-10-24)
Plenty of new number ones this week all across the EU. And not all of them in places you’d expect them. Croatia, Denmark and Lithuania, to name but a few, have all got brand new top songs. Good thing we’ve got Top of the EU Pops on Ara City Radio too keep track of them all.
Hip-Hop Respite for Greek Charts (Top of the EU Pops 30-09-24)
Greece got a respite from its native hip-hoppers and cleared out the top spot for Konstantinos Agriros, Laura Pausini and Lazza are atop the Italian chart and loads of other new tracks on this week's Top of the EU Pops.
Easy Listening (Top of the EU pops 23-09-24)
This week, Top of the EU Pops on Ara City Radio is light on material. Which makes for an easy listening. There are seven new tracks, with Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga being the only really top-tier performers to score a new number one. In the Netherlands.
Hold my insulin (Top of the EU Pops 16-09-24)
Loads of new chart-toppers this week on Top of the EU Pops on Ara City Radio. Including Baby Lasagna, Linkin Park and Dasha, all of whom have knocked off long-standing favourites in in their respective charts. Check out the playlist!
Marshal Matters Makes Magic (Top of the EU Pops 09-09-24)
Eminem took over Estonian chart with a song whose title probably makes Dua Lipa a bit salty. On the other hand, the new Polish number one track seems like it tried too hard to rip off Taylor Swift Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me. Kuke might have tried hard with Taki Maly Ja, but the President of the Board, he is not.
Circle of Life (Top of the EU Pops 02-09-2024)
Summer has come and gone and Top of the EU Pops is back on Ara City Radio. A lot has changed while we were gone. Except in Czech Republic and Slovakia, where things were apparently suspiciously quiet over the summer. Either that or someone wasn’t reporting the numbers.
Be that as it may, the first September edition of this here show plenty long and brings you everything from Sabina Carpenter, to Adam Port and Billie Eilish. And everything in between. It is a full hour’s worth of new music from (almost) every corner of the continent.
Things will probably be less dynamic next week, as Top of the EU Pops hits its weekly rhythm. Still, today’s playlist should give you something to hum about.
Top of the EU Pops usually features on Ara City Radio every Monday at 11 am, unless we’re on a break. Which we are at the moment. In case you missed the show, here’s this week’s playlist. Give it a spin and share it with friends!
Summer Is Here. Sort Of. (Top of the EU Pops 01-07-24)
Danish monarchists are back on Top of the EU Pops. The same goes for Greek gangsta rappers, whereas Lithuania actually has a decent number one this week in the form of Jura by Jovani and Taja. And, of course, there’s still Sabrina Carpenter with Please, Please, Please.
Billie Eilish Is Back On Charts (Top of the EU Pops 24-06-24)
What this week’s Top of the EU Pops lacked in quantity it most definitely made up for in quality. We had only eight new tracks today, but for the most part they are solid cuts. Most importantly, Billie Eilish is back with Lunch.
Sabrina Carpenter Double Bill (Top of the EU Pops 17-06-24)
Top of the EU Pops is back on Ara City Radio and for the first time in the history of this here show an artist has two different tracks on the chart simultaneously. The honour goes to Sabrina Carpenter.
Esspresso Is Back (Top of the EU Pops 10-06-24)
In addition to Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, we had ten other track as well on this week’s Top of the EU Pops on Ara City Radio. And at least one of them seems to profess its love and loyalty to the monarchy.
New Italian and Other Songs (Top of the EU Pops 29-04-24)
While Swifties and most of the music industry wait for Taylor to finally hit the top spots on European charts, Benson Boone shows no signs of tiring. And neither do Artemas. And between them they rule six different music charts. And will continue to do so for some time, probably.
And Then There Were Eight (Top of the EU Pops 25-03-24)
Get the latest movements and the freshest of tracks from all across the EU. Be it Marina Satti, Niet, Benson Boonem, Top of the EU Pops on Ara City Radio, brings you the latest - if not necessarily the greatest - in European music choices.
