Art as an expression of everyday emotion by Gilliane Warzée
Gilliane Warzée was born in Belgium and graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts d'Arlon, Belgium. She currently exhibits at Am Tunnel, the contemporary art space of Spuerkees Bank at Rosegaarchen in the city.
Faces and the human form fascinate Gillian; perhaps relating to the everyday experiences of her work as a nurse, she draws on the energy and emotions of individuals, believing that their faces are the physical reflection of the inner being. Through their representation, the technique and the colours used, she tries to suggest the emotions, feelings, and thoughts of her characters in order to make her works as human, expressive and interactive as possible. His paintings each bear a symbolic name linked to the first emotion felt in contact with her models. She transmits to them her energy, her deep impulses and her sensitivity.
She describes femininity as being at the heart of her artistic journey, and women at the center of her art. From the woman with the open gaze, from the one with the loving gaze, from the hopeful gaze to the struggling gaze, from the one who suffers to the one who soothes… In all their diversity, in all her generosity, she paints the woman of today always with the same force, the same fascination or the same obsession, that of putting her condition as a woman in a perpetual quest for freedom and equality in our society.
You can book a guided tour of the exhibition with the artist, due to the current restrictions only private tours of a maximum of four people will be offered. Book here

Silver Memories: Casino Art Gallery presents Daphné Le Sergent
Author L McLean
3.4 - 6.6.2021
Every cloud has a silver lining as the saying goes, and perhaps the only silver lining of this pandemic has been mankind’s flight into nature. Where human contact has been removed and forbidden, most of us have found solace in long walks in the woodlands and landscapes around us; much of which had gone unnoticed for years. As “pandemic individuals” we are not alone in this awakening, many have sought inspiration in this way for years. Now we have the opportunity to explore the artist Daphné Le Sergent’s collection Silver Memories, this work is based on the theme "Rethinking Nature / Rethinking Landscape".
From the 3rd of April until the 6th of June, Casino Contemporary Art Gallery on Rue Notre Dame, Luxembourg presents the work of Daphné Le Sergent as part of the 8th edition of European Month of Photography. Le Sergent was born in 1975, and is a French artist of Korean origin. The exhibition Silver Memories, presents a collection of landscapes combining photography, drawing and video.
By assuming that the ore of silver is becoming scarce, the artist constructs a hybrid artistic narrative where film photography is at the center of the questioning of artistic, economic and ecological issues. Her multimedia proposal - a video projection, on the one hand, and an installation composed of photographs and photographic drawings created especially for the Casino Luxembourg space, on the other - shows in a sensitive way the production chain of photography and its impact.
