Weekly Release Radar on Nicole’s Friday Show
1- He said she said- CHVRCHES
Scottish synth pop band are back with a strong and personal track “He Said She Said”.
Through the track lead singer Lauren Mayberry makes a powerful statement “Being a woman is fucking exhausting, and it felt better to scream it into a pop song than scream it into the void”
It’s the first song Chvrches wrote for the new project — recorded during the pandemic “almost entirely remotely on two different sides of the Atlantic”
2-Am I even real? - Leyya
Leyya, a Trip-Hop band from Austria released a track that they “don’t really know what to write here. If explaining the meaning of the song is necessary or if you’re even interested in it. I just hope you enjoy it and the video we made.” as they wrote in their statement under the release.
If you are interested, - watch the video
3- Why Won’t You Wait- Tora
Australian band Tora released “Why Won’t You Wait” as an announcement of their new album ‘A Force Majeure’ due in September.
The track is a completely self made piece, written, recorded, mixed and mastered by the band themselves, “provides a sophistication in its instrumentation full of intricate guitar riffs and robust synths that set the soundscape alight whilst the strengthened backbone of deepened beats and smooth bass maintains the off-kilter nature of the tempo.” - Acid Stag.
4- The First Day- Villagers
Another album announcement comes from Villagers, with the single ‘The First Day’ Villagers announced ‘Fever Dreams’ to be released on August 20.
Band’s Conor O’Brien speaking of the creation of the new album said: “I had an urge to write something that was as generous to the listener as it was to myself. Sometimes the most delirious states can produce the most ecstatic, euphoric and escapist dreams.”

Art as an expression of everyday emotion by Gilliane Warzée
Gilliane Warzée was born in Belgium and graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts d'Arlon, Belgium. She currently exhibits at Am Tunnel, the contemporary art space of Spuerkees Bank at Rosegaarchen in the city.
Faces and the human form fascinate Gillian; perhaps relating to the everyday experiences of her work as a nurse, she draws on the energy and emotions of individuals, believing that their faces are the physical reflection of the inner being. Through their representation, the technique and the colours used, she tries to suggest the emotions, feelings, and thoughts of her characters in order to make her works as human, expressive and interactive as possible. His paintings each bear a symbolic name linked to the first emotion felt in contact with her models. She transmits to them her energy, her deep impulses and her sensitivity.
She describes femininity as being at the heart of her artistic journey, and women at the center of her art. From the woman with the open gaze, from the one with the loving gaze, from the hopeful gaze to the struggling gaze, from the one who suffers to the one who soothes… In all their diversity, in all her generosity, she paints the woman of today always with the same force, the same fascination or the same obsession, that of putting her condition as a woman in a perpetual quest for freedom and equality in our society.
You can book a guided tour of the exhibition with the artist, due to the current restrictions only private tours of a maximum of four people will be offered. Book here
